Miscellaneous Tips

How Items are Placed

Items entering the network always will find another drive / storage bus with the same item already on it, as their first destination, they will always prefer higher priority storage then lower. If there are no existing items in the network, the item will then go to the highest priority Preformatted cells / storage buses; that it can fit on. If there are no preformated storages, the item will be stored on the highest priority storage it can fit.

  Case 1 Case 2 Case 3 Case 4 Case 5
Priority ME Chest 1 1 1 1 1 1
Priority ME Chest 2 1 1 1 2 2
Chest 1 has Cobble? no no yes yes yes
Chest 2 has Cobble? no yes yes yes no
new Cobble goes to Chest 1 or 2 2 1 or 2 2 1

As you can see in Case 5 Items will prefer filling an existing storage up first before considering the prioritiy.

Fuzzy Comparison

Below is an example of how Fuzzy Damage comparison mods work, left side is the bus config, top is the compared item.

Fully Repaired Pick Axe   Yes Yes Yes

Upgrading Storage Cells

If you have an EMPTY Storage cell any tier you can remove the Cell/Segment/Block/Cluster from the housing by shift + right clicking with it in your hand, so you can store it or use it to make bigger cells. it also gives you an empty storage cell housing to re-insert a cell into.

Changing / Updating Patterns

If you accidentally goofed up a Pattern using the Pattern Encoder you can wipe it by shift + right clicking with it in your hand, or re-encode it in the pattern encoder.

Colored Terminals / Cables

You can place a ME Access Terminal, ME Crafting Terminal, ME Crafting Monitor, ME Import Bus, or ME Export Bus on colored cable to make it assume the color of that cable.

One Way Network Connections

You can hook up a Storage Bus to a interface on a seperate network, to provide a one way connection, allowing you to create public / private networks.

Rotating Blocks

You can rotate Any Buses and Drives Blocks by using a Buildcraft Compatible Wrench, such as the Quartz Wrench. By default Buses will face away from the block you place them on, or hold shift, to have them face towards the block you lace them on.

Setting Priority

You can set Storage Priorities on ME Chest, ME Drive or ME Storage Bus in the Priority Tab on the right side. Higher Priorities are more imporant then lower ones and by default all storages are set to 1. Be aware that the process of storing item is polymorphic, means that a Chest with Cobble in it will fill up first even if you have an empty Chest on higher priority.

Removing Blocks

You can Shift + Rightclick with a Buildcraft Compatible Wrench and it will dismantle the AE Block and dropping it for you.
